It’s the last of our beer days in our popular “12 Cheers of Christmas” list. This one brings a lusty beer and an honorable mention for a fleeting one. Share your thoughts and your favorites on social media using #12CheersIGTD.
Tucked away in some of the bleakest, most unlikely of places are oases of cheer and great beer. For Day 11, we ventured into the industrial warehouse zones to the east and west of Denver and sipped the season’s cheer at Odyssey Beerwerks and Dry Dock Brewing.
Today’s sip is “Oh Snap! Spiced Winter Ale”, enjoyed in Odyssey’s cozy and welcoming tasting room full of Christmas cheer, including red stockings hung from the bar with care and a tinselly Christmas tree decorated with beer cans. OhSnap! is a brewsy interpretation of ginger snap cookies, with a full, smooth mouthfeel and hints of spice. It’s malty and biscuity, perfect for chillaxin in front of a fire this holiday season! The super-friendly staff pouring the “12 Beers of Christmas” menu with beer specials from December 13-24th, make this a worthy diversion from I-70.
Equally cheerful, Gingerbread Amber Ale from Dry Dock Brewing was as ephemeral as the spirits of the season. Why “was”? Dry Dock’s “North Dock” brewed up a firkin of this smooth and tasty brew, and that was it. We were lucky enough to enjoy it before it was gone… Happily they offer plenty of other fresh brews to enjoy, including a schedule of limited releases on a regular basis making it worth a stop before and after visits to DIA this holiday season. After all, the North Dock is the closest craft brewery to the airport along I-70, just south at Tower Road!
In 2016, Day 11 of the 2016 edition of the 12 Cheers of Christmas found us in another warehouse zone, sampling a surprisingly sweet brew. Read more here.
