We love Colorado and Colorado businesses. That’s why, every year around this time, we compile a list of our favorite Colorado gifts. Always buy local!
Best Urban Hikes: Denver – We’ve lived in Denver all our lives but really only thought about hiking as happening in the mountains. Turns out you can hike right here in the city, getting to know neighborhoods you’ve only driven through, or never even explored. Now you can!
BuxieJo Bags – A Westword Best Of winner for handmade bags, owner and designer, Kerrin Pogozelski says her bags have a strong Colorado voice. “I really like to let each piece, whether it’s a bag, clutch, cuff or wristlet have a distinct character all its own. I feel working with such a natural material, my job is to highlight features such as brand marks, scars and even a fun cowlick.”
Colorado Joe’s – Whether they are making a wall hanging or corn hole game (or other yard games) for an individual or for a company (you’ve played their games at Coors Field and many other places), each item is handmade and custom-designed. Their work is beautiful and high-quality.
Decadent Saint Ultimate Mixers – We’re crazy about these wine-based mixers made in Boulder. One bottle, just $20, can be mixed with just water, seltzer, gin, vodka and other basic ingredients, to make sangria and any number of other cocktails, easily. It certainly simplifies a liquor cabinet.
Grand Junction Goods – ON a recent trip to Grand Junction, we fell for the spirit of the place with its many wineries and beautiful vinyards. Our friends at the Grand Junction Visitor & Convention Bureau recommends these items for wine and spirit lovers like us: Colterris Winery, one of the Grand Valley’s 24-area wineries and tasting rooms, recently launched a delicious line of canned wines called Canterris. Available in red, white and rosé, these wines are perfect for a picnic among the vines, a lazy day on the Colorado River or after a great afternoon on one of Grand Junction’s many hiking of biking trails. Spirits enthusiasts will love Peach Street Distillery’s new, limited release Tub Gin infused with plum spirits, or their signature Colorado Straight Bourbon Whiskey.
Her Paris: Women Artists in the Age of Impressionism – Far beyond just beautiful pictures, this exhibit at the Denver Art Museum are about empowerment, not letting anyone prevent you from following your dreams, and finding beauty in the every day. Get tickets for you and someone you know who could use some encouragement and support.
Local Table Tours – Give the gift of getting better aquainted with Denver’s food scene with Orion Carrington as your Denver-based tour guide. The local celebrity is known in the food community for hosting the popular Comcast television show, Let’s Eat, in addition to emceeing a variety of events around town including the Denver Burger Battle and RAW Artist – Denver. His television experience also includes segments on CNN Travel Channel and interviewing big names from HBO’s True Blood and AMC’s The Walking Dead. Carrington will host a selection of culinary tours in December and January. Custom tour dates and times are also available upon request. Food tours with Carrington can be booked online or by calling 303.909.5747.
Spinster Sisters Co. – Every shower or bath becomes a well-deserved treat with soaps and body products by this Colorado company. They last a long time, smell divine, treat your skin beautifully and make your whole bathroom (and body) smell great. Their products just make us happier. We’re very excited that they have expanded and now have two locations in Denver, in addition to their original location in Golden.
Denver Dining Out Passbook – Getting a 2-for-1 deal for a great meal at a restaurant you’ve been wanting to try is a real treat. Use our code IGTD18 at check out to get $60 off the regular price. It’s such a deal at $39!
Richardo’s Decaf Coffee Liqueur – Delicious straight up or mixed into a variety of cocktails, we love that you can have a coffee cocktail even into the evening and still have a nice nighty-night. We created our own Richardo’s cocktail and incorporated it into a special winter’s evening. Richardo’s has partnered with Black Canyon Distillery and manufacturing the liqueur at the distillery’s new facility has begun in Mead, Colorado. In addition to being sold at liquor stores across Colorado and will be available for sale by the bottle and in cocktails at Black Canyon Distillery beginning December 1, 2017. In honor of the new partnership with Black Canyon Distillery, from December 1 to December 31, 2017, every bottle of Richardo’s Decaf Coffee Liqueur purchased at Black Canyon Distillery will include a complimentary cocktail containing Richardo’s.
Robin Chocolates – This award-winning chocolatier makes artisan chocolates that not only taste delicious, but are also visually appealing. Some say they look “too pretty to eat” but that sure isn’t going to stop us! We love the 2017 flavors including Choclate Whiskey Pecan Pie, Figgy Pudding and Spiked Eggnog. Robin Chocolates has gifts in a variety of prices. They also ship nationwide. All products are also available at Robin’s shop in Longmont. We’ve tried many Robin Chocolates (MANY!) and love them all.
