October is one of the most beautiful months in Colorado. And it’s the start of the holiday season (because some of you consider Halloween a holiday!), so get ready for a season of jam-packed roundups of What’s In Good Taste, starting with these curated October picks. Ongoing Events In Good Taste in October

Ajax Downtown celebrates Sober October with a spirit-free beverage menu available year-round, including Gruvi N/A Juicy Pale Ale, Stumptown Cold Brew + Tonic, and three cocktails including The Rail Rickey. This is also a good time to try out their new fall menu items.

Halloween & Harvest Adrift Tiki Bar debuts Nightmare in Paradise, Oct. 1-Nov. 1, with haunted happy hour deals, Red Rum Wednesdays, a Halloween-themed Adult Spelling Bee, tiki-inspired pumpkin carving and themed cocktails. 

 

Halloween & Harvest Bewitched & Bubbly is a month-long menu at Call Me Pearl with cocktails with whimsical flavors and enchanting garnishes plus Candy & Curds to snack on, cheese and Halloween candy pairing boards.

Birdcall has partnered with chef Caroline Glover of Annette to create the Oktoberfest Sandwich, available during October, for a cause. The “Das Chicken Schnitzel” combines Birdcall’s all-natural crispy chicken with pickled mustard seed dijonnaise and fresh herbed coleslaw inside. One dollar from each sandwich sold will be donated to the Southern Smoke Foundation, providing support for food and beverage workers facing financial or mental health challenges.

Big Fest Energy is a taproom takeover with a German flare. There will be food, polka, a car show, and Oktoberfest-themed drag show, running through Oct. 13.

Editor’s Pick: Big Red F Restaurant Group partners with Safehouse Progressive Alliance for Nonviolence (SPAN) for Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Throughout October, a portion of proceeds from the following cocktails will be donated to SPAN: Jax Fish House & Oyster Bar (Strawberry Lemonade); The Post Chicken & Beer (The Post Old Fashioned); Centro Mexican Kitchen (Strawberry Lemonade Martini); and West End Tavern (West End 75). 

Halloween & Harvest Boo-zy Halloween Festivities at Wonderyard goes all month with festive cocktails, a Potion Parlor with frightfully delicious libations, Haunt the House Down Costume party and Boo-zy Pumpkin Painting Party.

Bright Nights is held over by popular demand. The larger-than-life lantern installations will be available Oct. 2-5. 

Church and Union restaurant has opened in downtown Denver by “Top Chef” alum Jamie Lynch. Dishes include Chef Jamie’s lamb burger, Colorado mountain trout, a prime cowboy ribeye for two and, to drink, The Ghost with tequila, orange liqueur, cucumber water, lime and cayenne. 

Editor’s Pick: Cinderella by Ballet Ariel, is a timeless tale of love and transformation, with original choreography. The production is set to the Sergei Prokofiev score and is followed by a Meet and Greet opportunity to go onstage to take pictures with the costumed dancers. The ballet runs Oct. 5, 6 and Nov. 3 and various locations.

Halloween & Harvest Cocktails & Screams runs through October at McGregor Square with a lineup of Halloween activations and cocktail specials. Visit the link for the full lineup.

Halloween & Harvest Corn Maze at Chatfield Farms runs through Oct. 27 with seven acres of corn to meander in a sea creature design. 

Denver Pizza Week through Westword has Fuso, inside the Denver Milk Market, making a Pizza a la Vodka, served Oct. 21-27. Just $10 all week, it’s made with vodka tomato cream sauce, mozzarella, parm and fresh basil.

Denver Walls, Oct. 3-5, the annual arts festival, happens in the RiNo Art District. Enjoy engaging activities, educational opportunities, local art to explore and food and drink. Events include a Paint Battle, Gallery Show and Closing Party.

Dia de los Muertos celebrations at Tamayo and Toro run from Oct. 1-Nov. 3, featuring dishes and cocktails inspired by the holiday. Look for Empanadas De Longosta, Delete En Salsa Negra, Pan de Muerto, Merigold Margarita and more. Reservations are strongly encouraged.

Halloween & Harvest Drink-Or-Treat Cocktail Experience at Dairy Block lets guest enjoy cocktails inspired by favorite horror movies including Seven Grand’s Killer Queen inspired by “The Babysitter: Killer Queen,” Vampire Tears for “What We Do In The Shadows,” and The Blood Clot inspired by “Saw.”  

Fall Tasting Menu at Stoke & Rye is available for a limited time with a three-course menu featuring onion soup or black mussels “Marinere,” Spring Green Capenelle, Pan Seared Atlantic Salmon or Grilled Hanger Steak and Maple Pecan Pie or Flourless Carrot Cake.  

Flight Club Weekend Brunch on Saturdays and Sundays has bottomless mimosas, flatbread and darts. 

Halloween & Harvest Frankenstein, presented by Audacious Immersive, happens at three different breweries and Hudson Gardens from Oct. 11-31. The new adaptation of Mary Shelley’s novel brings the original language of the text to life in its horrifying glory, making one question what truly makes a monster.

Halloween & Harvest Glow at the Gardens (™) is Oct. 22-27, a luminous, nighttime celebration of America’s favorite gourd. Real pumpkins from local farms are used to create larger-than-life sculptures and displays. 

Halloween & Harvest Halloween Cupcake Cookie Decorating Kits from Olive & Finch’s Uptown or Cherry Creek locations, comes with cookies or cupcakes, festive frosting and themed decorations to make at home. Orders must be placed in advance.

Halloween & Harvest Harvest Haven is the autumnal incarnation of the cocktail lounge at The Inverness, from Oct. 4-Nov. 2. Enjoy floor-to-ceiling decor cider, cozy drinks and dishes starring fall produce.

Halloween & Harvest Harvest Week is Sept. 30-Oct. 3 at Ironton Distillery & Crafthouse. Get tickets to experience 24 Denver area chefs and four nights of dinners showcasing Denver’s local bounty and farmers. 

Hops & Pie celebrates Great American Beer Festival time with a variety of events including a CSA Portfolio Tasting Oct. 9; Westbound and Friends joint event Oct. 10; Elite Brands Portfolio on Oct. 11; and Hops & Pie Beer Treasures they’ve been saving, on Oct. 12.

Kachina Cantina celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month with a limited-edition menu of beef cheek birria taco and a Mexican pot de creme for dessert. 

News Le Colonial is coming to Cherry Creek this winter. The restaurant will bring a taste of 1920s Saigon with French-inspired decor and upscale Vietnamese.

Halloween & Harvest Magic of the Jack O’Lanterns at Hudson Gardens begins and runs only on Fridays. Presented by Denver’s Thirteenth Floor Entertainment Group transforms gardens into a glowing trail of hand-carved pumpkins.

News Snow Capped Cider took home two medals at the 2024 Great American Beer Festival Competition, in the first year GABF has included cider-specific awards. They won Gold and Silver in the No/Low-Tannin Cider Category. 

MONOPOLY LIFESIZED: Travel Edition, is a 60-minute, family-friendly adventure inspired by the classic game. Teams roll the dice and traverse a giant board guided by live game pieces. Compete in escape room-style challenges to acquire properties and claim victory. The immersive event runs Oct. 22-Jan. 5.

Halloween & Harvest Museum of Illusions Denver offers a Trick-or-Treat experience throughout the month, encouraging visitors to come dressed in costume to explore immersive exhibits of optical illusions, eerie distortions and gravity-defying rooms, collecting candy at each stop.

Halloween & Harvest My Neighbor Felix’s Halloween Pop-Up, Oct. 1-31, offers up unique themes at each location: Cauldrons and Curses in Centennial, Web of Frights in LoHi, Pumpkin Charm in Colorado Springs and Day of the Dead in Boulder. Enjoy specialty cocktails and bites from the new fall menu.

Old Ways, New Hands, through-Oct. 30, is an annual program celebrating two chefs who are part of a mentorship, goal accelerator program for Latin/Hispanic Chefs through Toro and Tamayo restaurants. Offerings from Chefs Gemma Aguayo-Murphy (Pork Chile Colorado Taco) and Mely Hernandez De La Vega (Short Rib Arepas) will be on the menus of both restaurants.

Halloween & Harvest Pumpkin Festival, Oct. 11-13, has 10-acres of pumpkin patch to shop for the perfect pumpkin. There will also be kids’ activities, craft and artisan booths, music, food trucks, hard cider and more. 

Halloween & Harvest Poka Muah Ha Ha is Poka Lola’s annual transformation into its ghoulish doppelganger for the month of October, with limited-edition beverages and Halloween decor. 

Postino WineCafe, one of our steadfast faves, has some new menu items for fall including a French Onion Bruschetta, Greek Hummus Board and Crunchy Hazelnut Bar for dessert. 

Rocky Mountain Oyster Day at The Fort is a weekend-long event, Oct. 4-6, with a $12 special offering a half order of not-the-oysters-you’re-thinking-of, tossed in seasoned panko crumbs, deep-fried and served with a side of sweet chili sauce plus a Mexican mule or gown powder whiskey (or non-alcoholic options).

Rush Bowls will be serving the I Love Chamoy Mangonada Bowl through October. The bowl blends mango, pineapple and mango juice with I Love Chamoy’s signature spicy-sweet sauce and Chilito seasoning. 

Sherlock Holmes and the Adventure of the Elusive Ear runs Oct. 4-Nov. 10 in Golden. Set against the backdrop of 1888 London, the play combines Van Gogh, Oscar Wilde, Holmes, Dr. Watson and others in a creative play that combines art and intrigue. 

Sheraton Denver Downtown has unveiled a Sheraton X Reese’s Book Club Package to go along with its monthly book club meet-ups. The package includes a charcuterie and wine amenity package, a copy of Reese’s book of the month, robes, slippers, and late checkout. 

Halloween & Harvest Spooky Cinema Series, Oct. 4, 11, 18, 25 and Nov. 1, offers an open-air theater experience with poolside screenings of iconic apply season films at Halcyon, a hotel in Cherry Creek. 

Storyteller’s Festival celebrates diverse Native artists and storytellers. Events include performances, panel discussions, and workshops through Oct. 6.

Tavernetta is supporting one of our favorite causes, World Central Kitchen with $1/Batida Amara cocktail (mocktail version too), for the month of October. This helps their efforts getting clear water and food to those affected by the hurricanes. 

Halloween & Harvest The Curtis Hotel has a Hauntingly Good Halloween Escape Package in October with themed accommodations, an amenity of seasonal snacks, orange soda the Halloween treats, free spooky cocktail, spooky playlist and “13 Spooky Things to Do in Denver” Guide. Must be 21+ to book. 

Halloween & Harvest The Cosmic Howl is a month-long event at Meow Wolf in which each exhibition gets transformed into a supernatural, otherworldly playground where art, performance and the paranormal collide.

The Hampton Social celebrates Breast Cancer Awareness Month at its Denver location with a special cocktail throughout the month of October. Named The Fighter, this cocktail is made with your choice of vodka or tequila, along with Passoã, blueberry vanilla and lemon juice, and will be available for $17.

News Tamayo restaurant has launched its fall/winter menu with specialties including slow-cooked pork shoulder, Ceviche Campechano, Heirloom Beet & Burrata Salad, Tofu Tacos, Salmon a la Talla and more.

Urban Market at Union Station sells local arts and crafts sold directly by the artists. There will also be live music and entertainment. The event runs Oct. 12-13 and 26-27.

Wild Things: The Art of Maurice Sendak opens Oct. 13 at the Denver Art Museum and continues through Feb. 17. See more than 400 artworks by the prolific author and illustrator who also created theater sets and collaborated on films. 

Yo Soy: Calacas y Catrinas continues through Oct. 20 at Denver Botanic Gardens. Celebrate the culture and artistic traditions of Dia de los Muertos. See a collection of calacas and catrinas, hand-painted by Colorado Latinx artists.

Adulti-Verse is a 21+-only night at Meow Wolf that has in-exhibition, late-night bars, performances, concerts and immersive experiences for grown-up adventurers. 

Guard and Grazie is a special six-course, exclusive collaborative pasta dinner with renowned L.A. Chef Avner Levi. Enjoy Squid Ink Mafaldine with Prawns and Spicy Pomodoro, Szechuan Lamb, Carbonara, and other pasta dishes.

Sazerac Whiskey Dinner in The Broadmoor’s La Taverne Restaurant hosts an evening with a welcome reception, elevated canapes, cocktails, and a 4-course tasting dinner accompanied by an esteemed Bourbon Tasting selection. 

Snooze an A.M. Eatery opens to the public in their brand-new space with a fresh look, debuting a lunch menu exclusive to their new, larger Union Station location. Look for items such as the Turkey Apple Brie or Smoky BBQ Pulled Pork sandwich, Asian Noodle salad and Chicken Tortilla soup.

Chef Takeover: A Taste of Rwanda  at SAME Cafe with Chef Vasta, founder of Iwacu Flavors provides multiple courses including plant-based foods including Amaranth, Garden Eggplant, Small Red Beans Stew and Rice with Aromatic Tofu Stew. 

Fess Parker Wine Dinner serves up five courses at The Fort restaurant featuring Fess Parker wines and special guest host Spencer Shull, grandson of actor and vintner Fess Parker. Menu items include smoked duck crostini and fall pear salad with pear goat cheese. 

First Fridays at Stanley Marketplace is a free community gathering with live art including poetry and spoken word performances, visual artists, live music and food and drink. 

National Taco Day at Pancho & Jane brings choices from their usual menu plus a Surf & Turf special for $14 with a carne asada taco and seared scallop taco.

Skiptown officially opens. The 50,000-square-foot facility at York Street Yards in River North, has expansive, off-leash, turfed dog park with a coffee and alcohol bar along with premium pet care services.

October 5
Back to the Future will be on view on the big screen at McGregor Square. Visit a replica DeLorean time machine starting at 4pm. Inside Milepost Zero food hall, enjoy a drink from the Cocktails & Screams activation.

Cider Days festival has everything apples, live music, and treats for the whole family. It runs Oct. 5-6. 

Denver Bake Fest is a community-centered event bringing together bakers from all backgrounds, from home bakers to pros. Enter a submission in a variety of categories and compete at Rebel Bread. A limited number of spots are available.

Denver Whiskey Riot 2024 gives attendees the chance to enjoy whiskey cocktails, bourbons and more while meeting the master distillers and brands behind them.

Fall Arts Invitational at Cheesman Park is Oct. 5-6, where more than 100 Colorado and nationally-touring artists showcase their work in the form of painting, ceramics, jewelry, woodwork, fiber art and others. There’ll also be a Gourmet Alley and Food Trucks.

La Veta’s Oktoberfest is a free event with food including a chili cook-off, vendors, classic cars, Biergarten and a salute to veterans. 

“Mochi’s War: The Tragedy of Sand Creek,presented by Tesoro Cultural Center, is a lecture led by Chris Enss, about the repercussions of the Sand Creek Massacre from the perspective of a Cheyenne woman who survived it. The lecture happens at two locations, Oct. 5-6. This event in Colorado’s history has connections and references throughout the state. 

POP-UP MALL at The Infinite Monkey Theorem features local vendors selling clothing, crafts and other items. There’ll be a food court and live music.

Prairie Harvest Fest has vendors, food, fun for kids, hayrides and a pumpkin patch in High Prairie Park.

October 6
Blanchard Family Wine hosts a Chardonnay Tasting Experience that will change the way you think about this classic grape. Explore four distinctive Colorado Chardonnays covering barrel types, fermentation and more.

A Taste for Life is the 23rd Annual event benefiting Project Angel Heart. Enjoy farm-to-table food with seasonal ingredients from Hop Alley, Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant, Table 6, Vine Street Pub & Brewery and others plus specialty beverages and a live and silent auction.

The Great American Beer Festival in the Colorado Convention Center celebrates all things beer with tasting, vendors, and a private competition. The event runs Oct. 10-12.

October 11
Bierhalle Brawl – Live Pro Wrestling in RiNo is a free 21+ event on Friday nights in the Bierstadt Lagerhaus.

Cookie Decorating: Advanced Level has students essentials and techniques with autumn-themed decorations on take-home, short-bread cookies.

Pretty Dead Things: Fall Cloche Workshop by Rowdy Poppy, provides materials, tools, instruction and a glass of wine or N/A option. Highlight the details of everlasting botanicals, insects, feathers and bones arranged under glass domes. Feel free to bring in additional items.

Beer Block at Larimer Square is a block party with music and craft beer bars serving brews from Squatters Craft Beers, Deep Ellum Brewing Company and others.

Clayton Hotel & Members Club hosts an artist panel and happy hour to honor the artists behind the art exhibit Catrinas en Mi Ciudad. Highlighting the free art exhibit taking place at Sculpture Park on Saturday, October 19, Clayton is hosting a preview discussion at the property.

Halloween & Harvest Pumpkin Harvest Festival at Four Mile Historic Park has build-your-own-scarecrows, themed crafts and activities, a scavenger hunt, games, live music, and a marketplace. It happens Oct. 12-13.

Woke Up! By Stories on Stage, is a series of short stories being performed, Nov. 12 and 13 at two different locations. The stories relate to the concept of reflecting on your actions and awareness about social justice and equality.

October 13
Asador Bastian at Corrida is a restaurant takeover by Chef Doug Psaltis of Chicago’s Asador Bastian restaurant. The chophouse with Basque influences will prepare a multi-course, family-style tasting of their greatest hits during 5pm and 8pm seatings. Tickets are limited.

Goldrush: Poetry Brothel Denver Launch Party, at the Mockingbird lounge in RiNo, features singers, storytellers, tarot readers, burlesque dancers, local poets and more.

Jazz Salon Series: The Music of Latin America brings stories of the mambo, samba and Tejano movements, moderated by Drew Zaremba, featuring Venezuelan-born keyboardist Victor Mestas.

October 17
Chefs Dinners take place at Saverina the third Thursday of the month, with a three-course meal for 10 people, at the restaurant’s chef counter, featuring a seasonal ingredient prepared and served by Executive Chef Christian Graves. This first event features nightshade vegetables with Crispy Pepper crusted Pork Belly, Roasted Branzino and Almond Cake.   

Chef’s Supper Club: Autumn Harvest at The Common Good offers a seven-course meal celebrating the harvest of autumn.

Food Fight brings together talented chefs and bartenders to raise awareness for scleroderma. Participants play food critic for the night, casting votes with a panel of guest judges to determine the winners of the Savory, Sweet, and Sip categories. 

Mysto the Magi is Vaudeville-style magic and illusions with circus arts and family-friendly comedy. 

October 25
Celebrate SAME Cafe’s 18th anniversary as a participation-based restaurant. They’ll have a taco party with beef, chicken, mushroom and jackfruit plus toppings) and cake provided by Colfax neighbor Le Clare’s Patisserie, plus a selfie wall.

Halloween & Harvest Costume Contest at ViewHouse Ballpark, runs Oct. 25-26. There will be live music, photo opps, prizes and festive libations which are also available throughout the month.

Halloween & Harvest Murder Mystery Dinner at The Fort provides a four-course, prix fixe meal that mysteriously unfolds around guests. Participants are encouraged to dress in evening wear. Masquerade masks will be given at check-in.

Halloween & Harvest Frankenstein’s Feast (with The Inventing Room) is a one-night-only combining culinary mad scientists with a three-course, horror-themed menu while enjoying an original production of Frankenstein.

Halloween & Harvest Scream Queens Brunch features a costume contest, $20 bottomless mimosas and more fun. The cocktails are inspired by favorite horror movies.

Tesoro Cultural Center’s American Indian Winter Storytelling Hour returns Oct. 27, Nov. 10 and 24, Dec. 8. Led by JoDene Sherwood of the Blackfeet, Assinaboine and Cree tribes, the stories are accompanied by a dancer illustrating an aspect of each story.

The Post Chicken & Beer celebrates National American Beer Day by giving a free pint of their Honey Bear Ale for free with the order of a four-piece fried chicken meal. The Ale includes three types of oats, honey malt and has notes of breakfast cereal and Biscoff cookies.
