Concert-going with the benefits of comfy seating and popcorn – see what you can expect from the new movie Billie Eilish – Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour (Live in 3D), in theatres as of May 8, 2026.

This movie should just be called a concert. It’s a concert. Billie Eilish-Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour is an in your face concert experience for her fans and people who may only know her a teeny, tiny little bit.
We were lucky enough to see it in a Dolby AMC theatre with sensational surround sound. The 3-D experience is absolutely over the top. We felt as if we were in Row F Center Stage struggling to see past the wall of fan’s phones who were recording in front of you. The consistent theme of this film is that you feel like you are there, as if you have not only a backstage pass but a front row seat to this show from start to finish. And what a finale it is with a momentous sensory delight that I won’t elaborate on as I don’t want to ruin the surprise!
My 11-year-old daughter declared it to be her favorite movie she has ever seen. She has never been to an arena show and it would be easy to say this felt like her first concert. I know a fair amount of Eilish music and found myself to be enthralled. Her fans, in our movie theatre audience, were squealing with delight and clapping after their favorite songs. (There was even a bit of a buzz before the movie started similar to a concert vibe with laughter and loud conversations sprinkled throughout.) The fans that we watched in the movie are clearly having their best day of their life. Her fan’s fervor is unmatched and well deserved. She gives back to her followers with devotion and compassion and it’s clear to see that Billie is a class act.
The movie is filmed in Manchester, England and jumps right into the show. There are movements in the timeline of this show where we see her before, during and after but the context of this movie is the actual concert. We travel below the stage, high above the stage and to what feels like hundreds of vantages surrounding the stage. Thanks to Director, James Cameron, the camera work feels alive and electric. It zooms out to capture the swell of the crowd and then swoops in to frame solo concert goer faces as they belt out their favorite songs. He placed microphones throughout so that, as we encounter a fan, we can hear them as they sing along, word for word.
I’m used to the grandstanding of Cameron and often think of his, “I’m King of the world” sentiment but his ego is nowhere to be found in this movie. He set out to capture this show, which is 100% Billie’s vision and he takes a backseat to her artistic vision. It’s beyond impressive to see his unreal technical grasp of filmmaking.

Go. Watch the movie and get out to see this concert. It’s definitely a wonderful event to witness! Learn more about the movie on Paramount’s website.
