PARK CITY IS AWESOME AND WORTH A VISIT
The 1880’s silver mining town is just a 45-minute drive from the Salt Lake City airport. It has historic and new architecture, galleries, shops and restaurants. There’s a year-round, free trolley that circulates the historic core and free regional buses to visit other attractions around the valley. Don’t miss seeing the Egyptian Theatre, a community gem for live theater and concerts. Wasatch Brewery is there too, at the top of Main Street, serving up their brews made on-site.

When we were in Park City, Utah last year in early October (we love going because we love the vibe), the hillsides were glowing with gold, orange and red Aspens. It was one of the most beautiful displays of fall leaves we’ve EVER seen. Of course, we’re all up to the whims of nature but chances are good, the leaves will be glorious Oct. 2-4.

There are 14 wine-focused events that comprise the Park City Wine Festival. They take place in a variety of Park city venues including local restaurants.
All-inclusive Events:
Grand Tasting sessions are Friday and Saturday in Canyons Village, featuring more than 100 wineries, live music, delicious small bites, and scenic mountain views. There’ll be more than 200 wines, food from more than 10 restaurants plus craft cocktails, all in an outdoor, walkabout setup.
Best of Fest on Friday features the gems of the festival in an evening tasting event at the new Pendry Park City. Enjoy live music and performance, live painting and a silent auction, a curated pairing menu and wines that are considered reserve and highly-rated-only.
Pairing Events:
Canyons Village Management Association has curated paired wine experiences for the Park City Wine Festival that are ticketed individually. Although some events were already sold out at the time of writing this article, here are some still available. They include:
Oct. 2 – Prime Pairings Wine Dinner at Butcher’s Cop House & Bar. Enjoy a five-course culinary experience paired with wines from Sonoma’s Alexander Valley Vineyards.
Oct. 2 – Legacy of Lohr Wine Dinner at Powder Restaurant by Waldorf Astoria. Get to know J. Lohr Vineyards & Vines paired with the restaurant’s culinary innovation.
Oct. 3 – Sips in the Saloon Wine Lunch at Boneyard Saloon. The eclectic Saloon, with plenty of local lore, is the setting for a three-course lunch with pairings from Sean Minor Wines.
Oct. 3 – Bubbles & Bliss Wine Lunch at Hyatt Centric EPC. Kellie Martin, founder of SommSchool and its chief sommelier, will guide guests through sparkling wines paired with a three-course meal of seasonal dishes.
Oct. 3 – Vino to Vino Wine Dinner at FiveSeeds. SommSchool’s Kellie Martin pairs Italian wines with a five-course dinner prepared by Chef Pierson Shields who takes diners on a tour of Park City through his dishes.
Oct. 4 – Sommelier’s Secrets Wine Lunch at KITA. Discover lesser-known varietals and boutique vintners in some of the world’s renowned wine regions through a three-course paired lunch. The event is led by SommSchool’s Kellie Martin.
