See the classics “An American in Paris” and “Appalachian Spring” performed by Colorado’s own Ballet Ariel. “An American in Paris” combines Gershwin’s sweeping music with the story of a young American woman’s first visit to Paris where she is transformed by the romantic city. “Appalachian Spring” depicts the wedding day at a Pennsylvania farmhouse in the early 20th century where the couple goes through a range of emotions. Select dances from “Le Corsaire” will also be performed about a love story during the Ottoman Empire. Performances are April 13 in Denver and April 27-28 in Lakewood. News BrewDog USA has announced its newest location in Denver in RiNo, opening this spring. They’ll have an experimental brew kit, taproom, spacious patio with firepit connected to a dog park. The interior will feature wood-beam ceilings with the historic feel of the glass-blowing workshop that was previously in the spot.

BurnDown has new seasonal food, cocktail and mocktail menus. Examples include Crispy Coconut Shrimp, Southwest Chicken Wrap, Cauliflower & Mushroom Orecchiette and a cookie skillet for dessert. Drinks include the Spray Tan Cocktail, Adult Swim and Buzz in the Honeycomb.

Cattivella has new spring menu items including a Primavera Pizza with basil, asparagus, peas, artichoke, zucchini and more; Lumache Pasta with Pan-Seared Striped Bass; and Zucchini Fritti.

Central City Opera’s 2024 Festival tickets are on sale now. The season runs June 29-August 4 and includes The Pirates of Penzance, The Girl of the Golden West and Street Scene.

Chuy’s Tex-Mex Totality, April 6-8, offers three days of deals inspired by the solar eclipse. That includes the Eclipse ‘Rita, $5 Chips ‘n’ Dips all day and a $15 Dark Side of the Spoon parody shirt.

News Emilia is the name of the restaurant opening in RiNo in 2025 from the proprietors of Restaurant Olivia. Emilia will represent an ode to the cuisine of various regions of Italy. Co-owners Chef Ty Leon, Austin Carson and Heather Morrison are collaborating on this project.

Been There, Loved That Fat Sully’s has some new menu items to try including these that we can personally recommend: wings, Arugula salad with fried artichokes on top, Chicken Bacon Ranch salad with buttermilk fried chicken and house-made biscuit croutons. They also have chicken tenders and a great smash burger. Don’t miss the hard-to-eat but yummy ice cream sandwich.

Fried Chicken Mondays and Surprise Beer Release at Spice Trade Brewery + Kitchen starts this month with a new tradition. They’ll sell fried chicken buckets and other Southern-inspired pairings and a new beer. For April 1, they are bringing back The Nashville Hot Chicken Ale for one day only. 

News High Country, sister restaurant to Gemini, is opening in Boulder in April. Located in the former Hapa Sushi space on pearl street, it will be an easy place to stop in for lunch, dinner or late-night. Look for dishes including Car Camper Cheese Fries, Bonanza Brisket and a Mile High Burger.

News High Point Creamery opens a new location in the Central Park neighborhood. We got a sneak peek and the decor is colorful and very happy.

News Keystone Festival tickets are available for a summer of fun including the Bacon and Bourbon Festival, Wine and Jazz Festival and Oktoberfest. 

News La Famille Bakery by Maison Kayser Paris has opened inside a King Soopers in Castle Rock. It’s the only location in the U.S. and all of the dough and bread is made in Paris and flown to King Soopers. I don’t know quite why that is necessary in life here in Colorado but I’m happy about it.

News Little Man Ice Cream at Central Park is open for the season every Friday, Saturday and Sunday under the wing of the “Connie” aircraft in the Eastbridge Town Center. Enjoy flavors and treats inspired by 1950s era flight like the Red Eye with espresso grounds, Turbulence with marshmallow and chocolate charcoal ice cream and their Baked Alaska Pop topped with flambeed meringue.

Mile High Asian Food Week runs April 28 – May 4. It’s a culinary celebration of Colorado’s growing Asian American Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) food scene. Perks include special discounts, secret menu items and specialty menus. Participants include Asian House of Pastries, The Enchanted Oven, Roll It Up Sushi, and Sesame Sandwiches.

MJ plays at the Buell Theatre April 10-28. It’s a daring glimpse into the early life of Michael Jackson, framed around the filming of a documentary as he prepares for his 1992 Dangerous Tour. It’ll make you think as well as dance in your seats. Stay tuned for our upcoming review.

National Ramen Day is April 4 but throughout the month, Osaka Ramen is celebrating with their own spin on the trendy Spicy Carbonara Ramen. The bowl includes spicy pork, tomato paste, bacon, chicken soup, parmesan, basil, egg, and marinated grape tomatoes. It’s available all month long.

Noble Riot is turning 5 and is celebrating with drink deals, select $5 glasses and educational opportunities from April 3-7. Look for the launch of Oenological Residencies that focuses on different wine regions, grapes, and wine styles for eight weeks at a time. 

Rattlebrain Productions presents three shows in three weeks, April 4-20. See “Spackle the Crack,” “Ruby and Price Start a Cult,” and “H@PPYVILLE.” Visit the website for dates and details on each production.

Sunday Cocktail Series begins April 7 at Dry Land Distillers. Partake of unique, house-made cocktails and creative small plates. The Distillers recently acquired a retail food license so they can prepare food on-site. Sundays will showcase their Slow Food approach with local, seasonable ingredients with a focus on sustainability.

Support World Central Kitchen April 15-May 12 when Leven Deli Co joins Benevolent Spirits Campaign with a new spring cocktail, the TLC featuring fresh-pressed lemon and carrot juice with a touch of turmeric, mixed with the guest’s choice of spirit or soda. Leven will donate $1 of each drink to WCK.

Two Moons Music Hall has officially opened, with a live music venue and light food menu and elevated cocktails. The 4,000-square-foot space offers live entertainment six nights a week from local and independent artists of various genres. The majority of the events are walk-in genre nights as opposed to ticketed events.

Urban Bush Women comes to Colorado with shows in Fort Collins on April 9 and in Denver on April 12. In its 40th season the award-winning Black women-led theatrical dance company and social activism ensemble presents the Legacy + Lineage + Liberation tour.

News Vail Wine Classic tickets are on sale now for the August 8-11 event. Enjoy all-inclusive grand tastings, reserve bottles, Somm-led wine seminars, wine hikes, paired lunches and dinners. 

Viva Abejas, which means “long live bees in Spanish,” is interpreted in a culinary way at Toro and Tamayo restaurants. With a bee-centric menu (think bee pollen and honey), a portion of its proceeds being donated to The World Bee Project who help save bee populations around the world.    

Viva Abejas at Stoke & Rye takes Chef Sandoval’s program to Avon where a special cocktail and dessert will be served, celebrating Chef’s new book, “Viva Abejas,” published last year in both English and Spanish as a study in sustainability and the food cycle for early readers.

Omakase Night menu featuring six dishes from Chef Peter Ho at OAK at Fourteenth includes Fried Tofu with okra, cherry tomato and honey ponzu; Bamboo Leaf-Wrapped Smoked Salmon Anago Sushi; and Green Tea-Marinated Duck. 

April 3
Taste of Vail, running April 3-6, with daily events, wine seminars, wine dinners, spring skiing and renowned guest chefs from the U.S. and Mexico preparing delicious food. 

Last Call at the Aardvark, presented by Miners Alley Performing Arts Center, is an exclusive staged reading of the play by Paul Stroili, to support the Denver Actors Fund. The show, which takes place in 1935 covers what can happen when one bad joke ruins everything.

April 4
Denver Auto Show has both domestic and imported vehicles you can get up close to, seeing the latest in technologies and designs. There’ll also be scooters and electric vehicles.

Fuzzy’s Taco Shop celebrates National Burrito Day with a deal to buy one burrito and get one free for later with rewards points. Must be a Rewards member to redeem. The offer is good for April 5-30 with any $5 purchase.

April 5 (Rockies Home Opener)
4th Annual Opening Day Cookout at Citizen Rail serves up brats with purple sauerkraut for $10 and a special purple cocktail, the Walk Off Wonder for $14.

Dining in the Dark at The Fort has a four-course “secret” prix-fixe menu with either lighter fare or a heavier meal with game meat.

First Friday Pop-Up Art Show at The Source is a curated collection featuring Denver artists and live acoustic music. Dine on cocktails and plates from Source purveyors.

Game Day on the Block is a three-day celebration of baseball. Running April 5-7, Dairy Block will host live music, art installations, and food and drink specials by Westbound & Down, Poka Lola Social Club, Kachina Airstream, Seven Grand and others. 

Jax Fish House & Oyster Bar LoDo opens early at 11am and runs happy hour through 5pm. They’ll have a specialty menu including a gumbo-topped hot dog, Jax Sea Dog (with crab meat) and a Purple Wave Cocktail.

Penny Admission at the Museum of Contemporary Art means Colorado residents get into the museum for one penny.

Spring Bash + Splash: 90s Retro Bash in Winter Park includes a live concert from Ninety Percent 90s, the High Fives Retro Shred-A-Thon, a costume contest and 90s pop-up stocked with snacks, free haircuts and more. 

Opera on Tap – The Bard at the Bar Featuring Shakesbeer happens at Brewability. Enjoy a night of comic and tragic words and song to celebrate Will’s 460th birthday.

April 10 (Pint Day)
An Evening of Laughs is a fundraising gala with the Denver Improv Comedy Club & Restaurant to benefit The Colorado Choir. Tickets include stand-up comedy, food and drink, a wine pull and silent auction.

Colorado Pint Day is a popular fundraiser in which $1 of each pint glass sold at participating breweries is donated to the Colorado Brewers Guild. The organization supports local, independent craft beer through the mission of promoting, protecting and propelling members through advocacy, education and public awareness.

Colorado Pint Day starts earlier than anywhere else in the state at 7am at FlyteCoBrewing for beer at sunrise. Get a pint glass for $3 with purchase of a beer.

Tennis Champions celebration event at City Park Tennis Courts celebrates the success of the initiative that has provided new upgrades to the tennis courts at the park, also kicking off the 2024 tennis season. Why does this matter? The Denver/Boulder region leads the nation in tennis league participation but there currently aren’t enough tennis courts to support the games played in our state.

April 14

News TAG Burger Bar opens in the Central Park neighborhood inside the Eastbridge Town Center. The restaurant, which serves burgers of course plus fish, rotisserie chicken, salads and more, joins other Chef Troy Guard restaurants in Eastbridge, HashTag and Los Chingones.

April 17
Beyond the Runway with Vanessa Barboni Hallik, founder and CEO of Another Tomorrow, and Karla Martinez de Salad, head of editorial content for Vogue Mexico and Latin America. The two will have a conversation about the intersection of art and fashion at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Denver.

Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana: “Fronteras” at the Lakewood Cultural Center highlights the interplay between dancers and musicians. The show runs April 17 and 18.

Guard and Grace celebrates 10 years with an anniversary party featuring 15 small bites crafted by 15 renowned Denver chefs like Alex Sidel, Lon Symensma and Jennifer Jasinski, plus guest bartenders and support for charity partner, Roundup River Ranch Culinary.

4.20 Specials at Steuben’s address those munchies and dry mouth with Mello Mules, Froot Loop Martinis, Pizza Grilled Cheese, Dill Pickle Wings, Everything But the Pot Brownies and Baklava “Blunts.” The menu is available for one day only, dine in or takeout.

Arvada BEER FEST – 90s Party is a 21+ ticketed outdoor event that includes unlimited sampling from more than 15 local breweries, cideries, distilleries and canned cocktails. There’ll also be food stalls, a 90s dance party and costume contest, with live entertainment. 

Don’t Tell Comedy Show features a line-up of great local and nationally-touring talent. 

High Point Creamery celebrates 4/20 with a special deal of four points for $20 at all of their locations.

April 21
Makerspace Workshop: Grow Your Own Food takes a deep dive into food production as local farmers Paul and Chelsie Fleischer share what they’ve learned growing food. The class covers varieties of veggies that grow well in this region. 

April 22 – Earth Day
Earth Day Vegan Dinner at Jill’s features a chef-curated prix-fixe menu. There’ll be a 30-minute cocktail reception with passed appetizers followed by a three-course dinner at communal-style tables. 

Restaurant Olivia is hosting a neighborhood recycling event with The Happy Beetle, a locally-based business that properly disposes of hard-to-recycle waste.

Snooze A.M. Eatery continues its annual One Tree One Snoozer Earth Day tradition, planting one tree for every MySnooze Bennyfits loyalty program member who dines in-restaurant or online at any of their locations on Earth Day. 

April 24
A Celebration of Women in Trades event highlights Emily Griffith programs that empower students and gives them the skills to pursue lucrative careers. Enjoy varied cuisine from tasting stations prepared by students, alumni and local restaurants. Funds raised benefit Emily Griffith Foundation and Emily Griffith Technical College.

Breakfast For Lunch Event with Colorado Egg Producers at SAME Cafe includes made-to-order omelets (choice of meat and veggies or Vegan frittata), muffins, fruit salad (gf), toast (gfo,vo), and homefries (gf, v). The organization provides cruelty-free eggs to Colorado residents.

Collaborative Whiskey Tasting Experience at Local Jones lets attendees savor fine whiskeys from Locke & Co at an on-site tasting. 

Wines Under the Sea at the Downtown Aquarium brings wines from the Pacific Northwest for a wine tasting. There will also be appetizers, desserts and live entertainment along with visits from the Aquarium’s animals.

April 25
54thirty Rooftop Bar Season Kick-Off Party includes DJ Manos and new menu items. Because this is an open-air bar, the event (and every evening there) are weather permitting.

Pancho & Jane, a new taco spot with a rebellious twist in Golden is hosting a sneak peek of their new restaurant which opens in June. The pre-launch party is from 5-8pm at Truck Eddy, The Eddy Taproom & Hotel’s food truck. They’ll be serving up tacos and margaritas.

The Durango Wine Experience, April 26-27, features hundreds of wines and Colorado spirits along with Durango’s finest restaurants showcasing their cuisines.

The Full Monty kicks off at the Miners Alley Performing Arts Center and runs through June 2. The 10-time Tony Award nominee musical is based on the cult-classic film about six unemployed steelworkers who decide to put on a one-night-only strip show to raise quick cash.

The Road to Lethe by Jeffrey Neuman, produced by Benchmark Theatre is a theatrical retelling of “The Judgement of Paris,” one of the most infamous stories of Greek mythology. The production runs April 26-May 18.

April 27
Alice + Kate opens in Castle Pines, offering handmade chocolates, caramels and macarons inspired by family recipes. It’s also the place to purchase unique gifts and products that support local, women-owned vendors. Look for unique, creative flavors of each treat.

Central City Opera is presenting two festival previews. The first is free and is in Central City. The second is at The Muse in Lafayette and costs $15. 

Cerveceria Colorado’s Sixth Anniversary Fiesta honors traditions, cuisine and culture of Mexico through craft beers, art, entertainment and food. One of our favorite bands, Los Mocochetes will perform and there’ll be Pinata Making by Curious Paper and Food by El Reyna del Sur.

Elitch Gardens Opening Day, celebrating its 134th year of operation. Enjoy coasters, KiddieLand, the wet ‘n wild water park, concerts including La Septima Banda, fireworks displays, Dive-In Movies and, of course, all the rides.

There will also be seminars, a drag queen comedy set, tai chi demonstration and intro to medicinal mushrooms.

Día del Niño (Day of the Child) is the 22nd annual celebration at The Denver Art Museum honoring children around the world. There’ll be art experiences, live dance and music by international and local artists, hands-on activities and free admission at DAM and neighboring museums. 

Mile High Asian Food Week at Olive & Finch has specials running through May 4 including Sticky Ribs, Buddha Bowl, Saigon Sammie, and Hanoi Dreams cocktail.

Queer Seder for Passover is led by local Rabbis and LGBTQIA+ leadership. The event mixes Passover traditions, relevant readings, songs, and prayers to celebrate the hard-fought freedom our LGBTQIA+ community progress and goals to come.
