Celebrating Colorado Craft Spirits

Craft distilleries are popping up all over Colorado, creating a fantastic array of tasty libations. On a recent trip to Breckenridge we sipped our way through the 2014 Breckenridge Craft Spirits Festival, and discovered a world of distilled deliciousness. With winter coming, warming spirits by a roaring fire sounds good to us. Here are several craft spirits that inspired visions of cozy wintertime fireside sipping…

Leopold Bros., Denver

·         Three Pins, the most unique sip at the festival with a clean, refreshing, herbal, piney, lingering finish.

·         Peach Whiskey, sweet and tasty, true peach flavor, that would be great drizzled over ice cream or a cobbler.

·         Absinthe, lovely sage green, anise aromatics, strong and slightly evil – just right!

Golden Moon Distillery, Golden

·         Dry Curaçao, luscious orange & spice, not too sweet.

KJ Wood Distillers, Berthoud

·         Lavender Gin, aromatic and refreshing

Black Canyon Distillery, Longmont

·         Sour Mash Whiskey, all local ingredients, smooth

Fore Castle Rum, Pueblo

·         Red Chile Rum, infused with roasted southeastern Colorado chili peppers.

·         Spiced Rum, just right for sipping.

Okay, okay, we know Santa Fe is not in Colorado, BUT… as you know we love this place, our Colorado hearts are big enough to include our cousins to the south… PLUS we don’t want to deny YOU the pleasure of their products ‘cuz of a line on a map!

·         Apple Brandy, all natural apple infusion, not cloying or overly sweet

·         Colkegan, mesquite-smoke whiskey conjures memories of evenings strolling the Plazas de Santa Fe y Taos…
