April is the month I find to be most In Good Taste. Why? Well, it’s my birthday month for one, so there’s that. But it’s also the most hopeful, tenuous month of the year, teetering between winter and summer, the pinnacle of springtime. It reminds us all that life is ever-changing and that we have to remain flexible, open to new things, and ready to appreciate the simple pleasures. NEWS Ace Coffee Bar is officially open, serving Huckleberry Roasters local coffee, breakfast burritos, sweet and savory treats.
NEWS Alteño has opened inside the Clayton Hotel & Members Club. It’s the fourth venture in a very short time from husband-and-wife team, Johnny and Kasie Curiel whose first restaurant is the celebrated Alma Fonda Fina in LoHi. It’s an ode to Johnny’s father, the original Alteño (or “highlander”).
NEWS Benzina Italian, which announced its closure due to the difficulty in meeting expenses in the current restaurant realm, received such overwhelming support that they are staying open through April and hopefully longer. If you haven’t been before, go. If you haven’t been in a while, go.
NEWS City Park Jazz has announced their lineup for 2025. It’s one of our favorite free events in Denver and it never disappoints. It runs every Sunday from June 1-Aug. 3. Performers include Colorado Mambo Orchestra, Chris Daniels & The Kings and Dzirae Gold.
Colorado Ballet Master Works is the annual showcase of trio of masterpieces performed in a variety of styles.
Concert + Cocktail Package at Kimpton Claret Hotel, is an elevated concert-going experience. Get deluxe accommodations, a $75 food & beverage credit to Saverina and transportation to nearby Fiddler’s Green for whatever concert you’re planning to go to, in the Kimpton Claret house car. NEWS Curtis Hotel has some new happenings: Curtain Call Cocktails is a themed drink menu in partnership with DCPA’s production of The Wiz, each paying tribute to the world of Oz. Dazzle & Delight Package gives you discounted parking, a sweet treat at Dazzle and 20% off tickets to the hottest jazz in town.
Denver Digs Trees program runs April 24-26, distributing more than 1,400 free and low-cost trees to Denver residents. The majority of these trees go to low-canopy neighborhoods to promote tree equity. Find out how to get one in the link.
Denver Jazz Fest is the first-ever of this event that is long overdue. It runs April 3-6 and offers up 30 shows at 12 different venues. Performers include Dianne Reeves, Rico Jones, Erica Brown with the Delta Sonics and many more.
Easter Dinner Package at Steuben’s serves five for $135. It includes orange-glazed ham, potato salad, three bean salad, mac & cheese, deviled eggs and Parker House rolls. Add on a Cadbury Chocolate Egg Tart. Pre-order by April 18 for pickup on April 20. Availability is limited.

NEWS “Freya” is the name of a new mural that was recently debuted along the exterior side of Rhein Haus’s building. Created by artist B LINE DOT, the immersive artwork takes inspiration from Norse mythology, inspired by the Norse goddess who represents love, beauty and war.
NEWS Glissade Coffee Company has re-opened in Aurora, serving a wide variety of coffee drinks plus ceiling their own coffee and merch.
NEWS High Point Creamery has four new flavors for spring: Watermelon Tajin Sorbet, Rum Raisin, Dark Chocolate with Spicy Brownie and Cornbread with Strawberry Jam.
NEWS Hotel Teatro is opening a new wine bar within The Study area of the boutique hotel. They are also announcing Women Winemaker Wednesdays, the second Wednesday of each month. The wine tasting, education and charcuterie is $30. They will also be adding Foraging for Urban Fruit + Canning with local field trips.
Inheritance Kitchen is an immersive art experience that invites audiences to uncover memories trapped by time, while learning the history of a house in Five Points. Engage with three families of Japanese, Latine/Chicano and Black descent through their different decades of injustices and loss while drawing connections through food, wonder and resilience. It runs April 3-27 at Sakura Square.
Jazz History Month at Nocturne offers up live jazz Wednesday-Sunday to celebrate and honor the musical form. That includes the Marion Powers Quintet performing Billie Holiday tunes on April 19. Make it Dinner and a Show with their special package.
Krush Queens is a Hazy IPA created in collaboration between WeldWerks and the Fort Collins chapter of the Pink Boots Society. It’s available at the brewery and participating realtors effective April 4.
NEWS Lafayette Farmers Market will debut in May and will run through October. It is a project of Peter and Margo Wanberg, owners of the City Park Farmers Market in Denver which is celebrating its 5th year, also in May.
NEWS Little Man Ice Cream is nurturing the next generation of ice cream lovers with a free “lil dip” sized ice cream for kids under the age of three, April 21-28 at all Little Man locations (except DANG Softserve and DIA).
Mile High Asian Food Week (MHAFW) runs April 27-May 3, with 73 participating vendors from Loveland to Colorado Springs. Experience different cuisines and get insider perks including discounts, secret menu items and specialty menus.
Monthly Brunch Series at My Neighbor Felix: Las Diosas and Mimosas kicks off April 5. The month-long brunch event at the LoHi location takes place every Saturday and Sunday, 10am-2pm and includes a La Marca Prosecco bar with build-your-own mimosas and a build-your-own bouquet station and permanent jewelry pop-ups on select dates.
Next Level Burger has Earth Month Specials, available April 4-May 31. Participating businesses include Blanchard Family Wines, Carmine’s on McGregor Square, NADC Burger, Sway Wellness Spa, The Corner Office, Ultreia, Woodie Fisher and others.
Tamayo has completed its renovation and menu refresh. That includes their famous Bottomless Brunch with unlimited small plates and cocktails including huevos rancheros, tres leches bread pudding, mimosas and Bloody Marias. They will be open for Easter brunch as well.
The Block Distilling Co. is jumping on the Dubai Chocolate Bar trend as part of their new Spring menu. Items include The Dubai Express, an espresso martini with a nutty, creamy twist including pistachio, tahini and Novo Coffee espresso blend. There’s also Watermelon Tea, The Jade Leaf and Par for the course.
The Mockingbird has debuted their weekly Tacos & Tequila happy hour where, from 5-8pm, you get a free taco from the taco truck parked outside when you purchase a cocktail inside.
NEWS The Real Dill has launched some new products including Pickle Juice, a drink mix to elevate martinis, margaritas, vodka sodas and more. The juice is available online and at participating retailers. See April 5 for their pop-up.
The Wiz follows the yellow brick road to Denver, April 8-20. The Tony(R) Award-winning Best Musical arrives at the Buell Theatre on its nationwide Broadway tour. The iconic score features soul, rock, Gospel and funk music following Dorothy’s journey to find her place in a contemporary world.
Thirsty Lion Kitchen and Gastropub has a new, limited-time menu for Spring. Options include Mediterranean Meatballs, Wagyu Beef & Prosciutto Burger, Grilled Shrimp Pad Thai. The new items are available April 17-June 22.
Unfork the Planet with Zero Foodprint and Big Red F Restaurants, April 21-27. Each of their restaurants will feature a special dish and donate a portion of the proceeds to the campaign which helps farmers restore the environment through regenerative agriculture. Participating restaurants include Centro Mexican Kitchen (Mushroom tostada with roasted local Hazel Dell mushrooms), The Post (Pueblo green chile with Colorado beans and chiles) and Jax Fish House & Oyster Bar (doing something different at each location).

NEWS Urban Cowboy Denver Hotel, which opened last October, welcomes Little Johnny B’s Wood Fired Pizza, opening April 21. It’s from Mamas & Papas Hospitality Group, the folks behind Dio Mio and Redeemer Pizza. Serving pizza, salads and other Italian-inspired snacks, Little Johnny B’s is the sister concept of the soon-to-be Johnny Bechamel’s restaurant in Wash Park.

Featured Event: Ballet Ariel captures the passion of springtime with two classics, A Night in Spain– Carmen Suite and The Three-Cornered Hat, rounding out their 2024/2025 season. Carmen Suite is a re-imagining of the classic opera set in the 1930’s, performed to music by George Bizet. It’s the 20th century tale of great love, lust and anguish. The Three-Cornered Hat is a comedic-spoof story with seduction set to Spanish dance, woven into classic ballet style. Dine with a Cause dinner at Guard and Grace pairs Chef Troy Guard hosting TV personality Robert Irvine for a 5-course dinner event. It benefits the Robert Irvine Foundation which supports service members, veterans and first responders.
Ron Jolly performs at The Maven as part of the Denver Jazz Fest. Jolly, a Denver native and former music professor at Denver University and music teacher and Denver Public Schools, has performed with James Taylor, Michael McDonald and others.
Throwback Thursday: Whisky Tasting at Spirit Hound Distillers’ Denver Tasting Room dives into nostalgia savoring exclusive tastings of rare whiskies from their top-secret Private Whisky Library.
Ute Day at the Colorado State Capitol celebrates the rich heritage, culture and contributions of the Nuuchiu to the State of Colorado. The speaking program will be followed by a lunch at History Colorado and presentations. The event is open to Tribal Members and the public.
April 4 – Rockies Home Opener
Annual Rooftop Party at Los Chingones, in partnership with Montucky and Milagro, includes a day of live music, great skyline views and all-day food and drink specials.
“Art and Cars RiNo” is April’s First Friday event. Frisian Motors Auto Gallery continues its model of mixing art and auto sales with a new exhibition featuring the paintings of Delton Demarest and photography of Chad M. Julius. See it through April 26.
Belles & Boots opens its doors for the first time with a cowboy bar-inspired atmosphere and western-themed menu. Enjoy the mechanical bull, line dancing under a boot-shaped disco ball and DJ tunes and live music throughout the week.
Denver Union Station Opening Day Patio Party is designed for the whole family with the kick off at Terminal Bar patio at 10am, with food and drink specials. Paizley Park, the Prince tribute band, will play on the Plaza from 11am-2pm and other fun.
Dining in the Dark at The Fort is a blindfolded dining experience featuring a four-course meal with an option focused on game meat and one featuring fish or poultry.
Federales has specials including an extended happy hour from 11am-6pm with special pricing on margaritas, taquitos, Queso Blanco, Grande Nachos and Guacamole plus $20 beer buckets and $5 Coors light drafts. Catch the game on the big screens amidst fun decor.

Opening Day Party at The Rally Hotel at McGregor Square brings family-friendly celebrations and activities throughout the day including a caricature artist, live music and local vendors. Opening Day Picnic takes place in the Limelight Denver Porte-Cochere, hosted by Ajax Restaurant. Rhein Haus and Wally’s Wisconsin Tavern open early for the Rockies Home Opener, serving drink specials including $10 and $15 pitchers of beer, $6 shots, $8 margaritas and a #10 Ball Park brat topped with onions, peppers and sauerkraut.

FlyteCo Brewing is hosting an Aloha Party for their Tennyson location as they close up shop and centralize everything at FlyteCoTower. They’ll have $6 select FlyteCo drafts, food trucks and live music.

Julia Keefe Indigenous Big Band, an ensemble of Native and Indigenous jazz musicians from across Indian Country, performes pieces from their under-appreciated predecessors in jazz like Mildred Bailey (Coeur d’Alene) and Jim Pepper (Kaw/Mvskoke) alongside works by contemporary Indigenous composers, the band spotlights a vibrant, long-standing tradition of Indigenous improvised music today.
Taste of Pearl explores Boulder’s culinary arts scene including wines and distilleries while strolling through galleries and retail boutiques.

April 7 – National Beer Day
Ambler celebrates with a new beer cocktail that blends Leopold Bros. Blackberry Whiskey with New Belgium La Folie for a tart, fruity and smooth drink.
Breckenridge Brewery at The Inverness Denver has two beer cocktails to choose from: The Studded Fruit Beer Cocktail fuses Tres Generaciones tequila with strawberry puree, fresh lime juice and BB Hop Peak IPA. Or, the Time Beer Cocktail has Malfy Con Limone gin with wild orange tea syrup, pineapple, lemon and BB Hop Peak IPA.
April 8 – National Empanada Day
Tamayo and Toro are celebrating National Empanada Day with special versions. Lomo Empanadas, filled with beef tenderloin, truffled cheese, almond, creamy guajillo sauce and chimichurri will be available for $18 at Tamayo. And sweet corn empanadas with aji amarillo, manchego cheese and avocado puree served with chimichurri, will be $15 at Toro.
April 9
Bonnie Brae Ice Cream has partnered with Hampton Water Wine to introduce a limited time flavor available until supplies last, the Strawberry Rose Sorbet. From 3-6pm, at Bonnie Brae Liquor, sample the sorbet and a selection of Hampton Water Wine. From 5-6pm, Jesse Bongiovi, Jon Bon Jovi’s son, will be onsite to meet fans and raffle off an acoustic guitar autographed by his father.

The Real Dill is popping up at 4 Noses Brewing in Park Hill, from 4-7pm, to celebrate the launch of their Cucumber Margarita Mix. The product is available for sale online and at participating retailers. Like all their products, it’s scratch made with whole, fresh ingredients.

Platform Series: Growers Champagne Dinner at Denver Union Station is an elegant dinner with artisan champagnes showcasing French Wine Makers. The menu includes Foie Gras Terrine, Cauliflower Bisque, Roast Duck and more.
Queer Seder, hosted by the Staenberg-Loup Jewish Community Center, is led by local rabbis and LGBTQIA+ leadership and includes a mix of Passover traditions and relevant readings, songs and prayers to celebrate hard-fought freedom and the progress still to be made.

Chocolate & Charm: An Easter Egg Decorating Affair, at the Ritz-Carlton Denver, is a family-friendly event led by Pastry Chef Stella Wright and Executive Chef David Schaumburger. Make your own chocolate egg centerpieces using royal icing, chocolate-painting, and floral and sugared pearl embellishments.

Earth Day at Snooze A.M. Eatery is a month-long initiative in which one tree is planted for every Snooze team member all month but, any member of their MySnooze Bennyfits loyalty program on April 22 gets one planted in their honor too.
