“Live and learn.” Sometimes, we just have to do that, finding our own path, learning (hopefully) from our mistakes. But other times, we can avoid some major hassles and a lot of pain if we learn from others who have been there, done that, and figured out a better way. What started as a way for Colorado dad, Graham Williams, to gather wisdom from others as his son entered middle school, became a full-fledged business, Impart. Find out what Impart is all about and how it can help a lot of people in your life – even yourself.

A Denverite from birth, it was a combination of a milestone in his son’s life and a career pivot in his own that led him to create Impart. Far more than a photo album, Graham created a book you assemble, with the help of others who are imparting their wisdom, to give someone who needs it – whether they realize it at first or not. That could be anything from a big transition in life like level of education, marriage, parenting, bar mitzvah or new job to someone who just needs encouragement during a difficult and challenging time like a breakup, frightening diagnosis, or loss of a loved one. You could even make a book for yourself to help you remember lessons you’ve learned in life and encouraging words you need to hear but keep forgetting in the day-to-day of life – with the flip of a page.
Here’s how it works (all from the Impart platform):
1. Invite family and friends to impart their life lessons.
2. Collect their incoming advice, and send gentle reminders to those who haven’t so you can keep to the schedule.
3. Review what’s been provided and organize the advice any way you want within the book.
4. Check the final proof and send it to be printed – all from the Impart website. The book will be done in less than a week and will cost less than $50.

New in 2021: Impart has announced a new set of features to make their custom gifts even more unique, especially while people are still social distancing and not celebrating achievements and special events in-person. People can now add personal photos along with their message of advice and support. Additionally, users can now select pearls of wisdom from Impart’s growing library to include in their book alongside those from invited friends and family.
