For people with life-threatening illnesses, getting to the store, planning and prepping healthy meals, can be daunting. The truth is, food is medicine, and Project Angel Heart is a Colorado nonprofit that’s been preparing, packaging and delivering medically-tailored meals for those with life-threatening illnesses – at no cost.
Owen Ryan is the President and CEO of Project Angel Heart. He’s led the organization to deliver its 8 millionth meal earlier in 2021 and to expand services into Boulder and Weld Counties. In total, Project Angel Heart now provides home-delivered, medically tailored meals to over 1,000 square miles in cities spanning from Colorado Springs, across the Denver metro area and into Boulder and Weld Counties.
In conversation with Owen Ryan, we get to learn more about how Project Angel Heart works – they’ll deliver more than 600,000 meals over the next 12 months to Coloradans living with congestive heart failure, kidney disease, COPD, cancer, COVID-19, HIV/AIDS, and many other illnesses – but we’ll hear the passion with which he approaches his work. Every day he, and his team, are making such a big difference in people’s lives.
