Welcome to the In Good Taste Denver Podcast

“I really need to start a podcast for In Good Taste Denver.” I’ve been saying that a lot over the past year or two. So much so, that my friends and family keep saying, “Just do it already!” Well, I’ve finally done it already.

Every time I get word of a restaurant opening, or a business offering something really unique, or an event, I start thinking about the story behind it. And there’s always a story. Finally, I get to help tell those stories with the new In Good Taste Denver Podcast. Listen to the introductory podcast via our “player” down at the end of this article or on our sidebar. Watch for it coming soon to iTunes, Spotify and other podcast streaming services. But first, I want to tell you a little about why I wanted to do this and what you can expect from this podcast.

I love talking to people. I love doing interviews. As a long-time freelance journalist, I’ve been doing both for a long time. I love it when I ask a question of someone who has been interviewed a lot and they pause and say, “Great question – no one has ever asked me that before!” Inside, I’m high-fiving myself because it’s a sign of success to me.

Often, when I’m interviewing someone for an article, and the conversation is really flowing, I’ll think about how cool it would be if people could hear the conversation, the person’s voice, the places we cracked up laughing, or where they paused to gather their thoughts before a poignant response. Now, I get to share the personal nature of interviews through audio. Looking at it in a kind of twisted way, it’s like eavesdropping on a conversation – except that you’re given permission, and highly encouraged, to listen in. In a more heartwarming way, listening to our podcasts is a way to connect with our guests, share in their emotions, learn from them and basically get to know them.

This isn’t my first foray into podcasts. I started one when I bought a digital culinary travel magazine in 2018, Real Food Traveler. While In Good Taste Denver covers Colorado, Real Food Traveler covers the world. Doing the podcasts there has been very fulfilling.

I’m thrilled to enable our readers to now also become our listeners via the In Good Taste Denver Podcast. I hope you enjoy listening to the podcasts as much as I enjoy doing them.

Here’s what we hope to cover in our podcasts:
Local food and beverage (restaurants, purveyors, and events)
Arts and Culture (exhibits, plays, festivals)
Travel (within Colorado and beyond)

What we will do:
Have a fun, genuine conversation that provides information, insight, and heart.

What we won’t do:
Turn a podcast into a big ad. You may have a great (anything listed above), and we’ll talk about that, for sure, but the In Good Taste Denver Podcast is really going to be about the stories surrounding it all.
