Spring has sprung – way too early – but I’m still going to revel in it, especially since it’s my birthday month. The bounty of wonderful-sounding happenings in Colorado in the worlds of food, drink, arts, culture and travel abounds again this month. 54thirty Rooftop Season Kickoff happens April 23-25. The open-air rooftop bar at Le Méridien Denver Downtown will have extended summer hours, live music and the rollout of a new cocktail menu and globally-inspired bites. Book a cabana or grab a seat beside a tabletop firepit to enjoy panoramic views at 5,430 feet.

Afternoon Tea at Local Jones runs March 1-May 31. Enjoy scones, savory bites, petit fours and tea sandwiches created by pastry chef Liliana Myers. They will be served with an array of RISHI teas, floral tea cocktails or G.H. Mumm Champagne. Afternoon tea is offered Thursday through Sunday and is $65 per person. Reservations can be made here.
Alecia Keys’ HELL’S KITCHEN plays at the Buell Theatre April 14-26. The musical from 17-time Grammy® Award winner Alicia Keys features new songs and greatest hits about growing up in NY. It’s a love story between a mother and daughter that focuses on finding oneself and purpose.
Beyond the Western Horizon at the Madden Gallery at the Museum of Outdoor Arts celebrates the reimagined myth, memory and enduring spirit of the American West with more than 50 artworks depicting aspects of the American West through 20 prominent artists. The exhibition will be on view through July 31.
Boulder International Film Festival runs April 9-12. The four-day event brings films and filmmakers from around the world. In conjunction with screenings are culinary events featuring nationally renowned chefs and foodie events such as filmmaker happy hours.
Breckenridge Wine Classic Grand Tasting tickets are on sale now for the Aug. 20-22 event.
Briar Patch debuts their new main menu on April 20 and a new brunch menu and cocktail and wine menus on April 24.
Caffé Rifugio is a new invitation-only supper club experience by Jovanina’s Broken Italian, held in a secret enclave on select weekends. The candlelit space is akin to 1958-era Italian Dolce Vita and cozy mountain cabin. The prix-fixe menu offers sharable items like a jumbo shrimp cocktail and caviar service, seasonal charcuterie, salads, wood oven-roasted prime rib and porchetta and dessert presented in tableside-carted courses by velvet tuxedoed servers. Classic cocktails, wines and amari complement each course. The experience is $150/person. Join the waitlist to then receive booking information as seatings become available.

Chef & Shucker returns with hands-on oyster classes at Blue Island Oyster locations. Guests learn the art of shucking while enjoying chef-crafted bites and perfectly paired cocktails or wines. The classes happen April 9 in Lone Tree, April 12 in Cherry Creek and May 17 in Cherry Creek.
Chef’n It Episode 8 is out, spotlighting Chef Lon Symensma of ChoLon Modern Asian. On the YouTube series, he makes Larb Salad Lettuce Cups for the home cook.
Chicago returns to Fort Collins’ The Lincoln Center April 24-26. The multi-Tony Award-winning show is the longest-running musical in Broadway and West End London history.
Chicken Riot opened late March in Cherry Creek. The spot on 6th Avenue is owned by Chef Manny Barella and Pitmaster Patrick Klaiber. Menu items include I’ll Have a Sandwich (deviled egg chicken salad, Reunion Bakery croissant, lettuce and cherry tomatoes), Rich White Chick Salad (pulled smoked chicken, baby gem lettuce, lacinato kale, Caesar dressing, cotija cheese and panko crunch with sides like Beef Tallow Black Beans and Mexican Dirty Rice.
City Park Jazz has announced their lineup for the 2026 season and it includes Spicy Pickled featuring Hannah Rodriguez, Hazel Miller & The Collective, Conjunto Colores with Rasta Salsa and Jakarta. They also need our help because the historic bandshell was destroyed in a fire in March. The concert series will have to incur major expenses to provide other ways for the bands to perform. Colorado Governor’s Art Show & Sale returns for its 35th year, running April 25-June 6. Featuring Colorado artists exclusively, the event will be held at the Loveland Museum with both in-person and online fine art sales.
NEWS Colorado Music Festival tickets are on sale for the event’s July 9-Aug. 9 dates at Chautauqua Auditorium in Boulder. Hear 14 diverse performances of orchestral and chamber music.
Cryptic has been extended through May 10. The interactive, immersive show begins as a tour through a mysterious roadside attraction before going into a tech-driven mystery with mapping, sound, fog and interactive environments.

Denver Jazz Fest runs April 7-12 at multiple venues with performances by Keith Oxman, Pat Metheny, the Branford Marsalis Quartet, Carmen Lundy, a Latin Dance Party, Hazel Miller, Eric Gunnison, Fred Hersch and many others. Some events are free and others are ticketed.

Denver Silent Film Festival runs April 10-12 with a bygone era of film magic. See them on the big screen with live musical performances the way they were meant to be seen.
Denver Taco Tour runs April 25-May 5. Visit four taco spots in the RiNo, LoDo and Ballpark neighborhoods. There are six sessions during the run of the Crawl.
Been There, Loved That Drink Red Wear Red tickets are selling fast for their May 28 event. Dumplin’, by Bonano concepts, has closed. They are focusing on their new concept, Rōmyō, which opens in July.
English is playing at the Singleton Theatre April 17-May 31. The play is a funny and tender play about the foibles of language and miscommunication in a classroom of adult students outside of Tehran.
Evenings al Fresco tickets will be available starting in mid-May for Denver Botanic Gardens’ popular series that will happen in late June through late July. Enjoy live music of different styles stationed throughout the Gardens.
Glowing Wild at the Denver Zoo is back with new lantern scenes and interactive surprises. There will be live entertainment, exclusive snacks and drinks. It runs selected evenings March 13-May 10.
Harvey Park Farmers Market launches in Southwest Denver this May, running every October. They will have more than 50 vendors including more than 15 who are making their farmers market debut at Harvey Park: Hummus Capara, Harvey Park Flowers, Taco Bella Denver and Atelier 19 Bakery among them.
Hop Alley has received its first major menu overhaul in 10 years from Executive Chef Sean May. Items include fried Alamosa striped bass with Singapore chili crab sauce; Buckner Farms braised lamb with Chinese turnip cakes, lap cheong sausage and lamb jus and more. Longtime favorites can still be found on the new happy hour menu including Beijing duck roll and a fried chicken sandwich.

Imperial Chinese Restaurant abruptly closed, per Westword, leaving a note on the door explaining that rising operating costs and economic challenges forced the decision. The place has been on South Broadway for more than forty years.
Jaume Plensa: A New Humanism is an exhibition running April 18-Sept. 7 at Denver Botanic Gardens. The towering portrait sculptures will be seen in the gardens along with iconic seated figures.

We’re Going, Are You? Junction Food & Drink is launching a new cooking class that teaches students how to make fresh pasta and classic marinara sauce. The class runs 6-8pm and is intended to both teach and be a social night out. Classes include all ingredients, equipment and instruction. Guests must be 18+ with beverages available for purchase at the Junction Bar for those 21+. Classes are April 22, April 26, May 10 and May 24. Spots are limited and need to be booked in advance.

Masters Tournament Weekend can be enjoyed at Bounce Empire, April 10-12 with their new attraction, Mulligans: Hole-in-One Progressive Jackpot Challenge. The custom-designed immersive golf simulator modeled after Pebble Beach hole 7, allows guests to take their shot at a $5,000 progressive jackpot while the Masters plays live in the on-site Sports Theater. Underground Music Festival tickets are on sale for the July 24-26 event that takes over RiNo with music from local and nationally-touring artists. Tickets will go up in price as time goes on.

Viva Abejas is the annual campaign from Richard Sandoval Hospitality, an education-first initiative that connects pollinators, food systems and hospitality. Voltaire HiFi libations and listening bar is open, located below La Foret on S. Broadway. They serve cocktails built around vintage and rare spirits, wine, beer and approachable French and European-inspired food all while analog tunes spin.
Westy Restaurant Week is April 17-26 featuring multi-course menus priced from $15-$55 at participating restaurants. Several of those restaurants are in The Orchard Town Center including Law’s Chophouse, Elevated Q and 3 Margaritas.

Good Luck Club officially opens, a project of Pouring With Heart, the hospitality group whose mission is raising the spirit through community, camaraderie and connection.
