https://ingoodtastedenver.com/civic-center-eats-2019/The return of Civic Center Eats heralds the return of warm weather fun in the Mile High City! In Good Taste Denver is proud to partner with the folks who make the food truck magic happen (Civic Center Conservancy) for a second year, to spread the word. Watch for our upcoming profiles on some of the great food trucks (restaurants on wheels!) you’ll meet there. Here are the basics you must know to make the most of Civic Center Eats 2019:
- April 30-October 10, 2019 (for excluded dates, click here)
- Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
- 11 am – 2pm

As devoted Civic Center Eats noshers for years, we’ve learned a thing or two…or 15. Here are our 15 tips to enjoy this program that is such an asset to Denver!
- Need a quick bite? Arrive early (11-11:30am) or late (1-1:45pm). Love people watching? Arrive 11:30am – 12:45pm for peak people peeping!
- Enjoy tables with umbrellas, shaded seating in the Greek Theater, and blankets on the grass. Throw your own shade with a sun hat or parasol. (P.S. Mom called and says “Wear sunscreen!”)
- Come on foot, by bike, bus or rail. If you must drive, there are parking meters on nearby streets; the Cultural Center Parking Garage is a pleasant 2 block walk by the Art Museum and Library.
- Come for the food, stay for the fun with lawn games, live music, the new beer and wine garden on Thursdays, shopping from fashion trucks (also a new thing this year) and great people watching. (See #13!)
- Be the hero in your office… Bring a friend or 2 or 10… Invite friends from the burbs… Plan ahead and enjoy a uniquely urbane lunch experience with your besties!
- Musicians have feelings, too, so give a smile and a quarter or two to the live musicians who perform. Even better, listen and clap!
- Visit the Civic Center Conservancy tent to learn about their Mission, share ideas, say “Hi!” and ask how donations help keep the dream alive.
- Help spread the word – take a selfie and post using #CivicCenterEATS and #CivicCenterEatsIGTD. (Be sure to see #12…)
- Feed the masses! Buy CCEats Gift Certificates for friends, family, strangers – PLUS support the good work of the Civic Center Conservancy.
- Come every week and mix up your days to enjoy the changing array of food trucks. Enjoy your faves and be adventurous – try a new truck every month!
- Go green! Create a little “Kit” with a reusable water bottle, cutlery, napkin, a bib and wet wipes. (Seriously, you’ll thank us.) It’s eco-friendly and saves you money to buy dessert from another truck.
- Put away your phone and look around – enjoy the flowers, amazing architecture and public art that surrounds you. Take it all in. (After you take care of #8…)
- Wear dark sunglasses so you can people-watch. Not in a creepy way, of course, but in a “I’m conducting sociological observations” kinda way.
- Nature calling? Public restrooms are on the ground floor at the rear of the nearby McNichols Building, with an entrance right off the park.
- Work up an appetite by attending one of the FREE Civic Center Moves classes!
Make a new friend! Be bold and ask to share a table, chat with other Civic Center Eaters in line, let the food truck folks know you loved their food. Smile. Chillax. Have fun.
